Power Plant Development Projects

Perennial Power, subsidiary of Sumitomo Corp- West Deptford Energy (New Jersey)

Advanced Energy Experts (AEE), provided a due diligence review and analysis of nearly two dozen long-term supply, transportation, hedging and lateral contracts with respect to compliance to PJM capacity performance mandates for the potential investment in a 750MW combined cycle natural gas power plant. Reviewed all supply options available to the project, including the potential of contracting directly with E&P producers for supply assurity. AEE provided supply analysis from all upstream natural gas producers who were connected to the inter and intrastate supply pipelines for the power plant. As a result of AEE’s due diligence and supply analysis, the investor successful closed on the acquisition.

Confidential Power Developer

Developed a long-term natural gas and procurement strategy for a 950MW combined cycle natural gas power plant for a Fortune 500 power plant developer. Lead the procurement of gas supply and transport as well as provided assistance with developing & constructing a 6.0 mile, 18-inch gas lateral and meter station. This included the development of supply RFPs, the management of the RFP process, and final supplier selection and contract negotiation.

Confidential Power Developer

A PJM Power Developer was seeking to develop a natural gas power plant within PJM and engaged AEE to support site selection activities. These activities included regional gas infrastructure assessments, basis assessments, and access potential to liquid trading hubs. In addition, AEE supported the review of potential development partners identified by the developer to vet their qualifications and experience.

International Investment Bank and Power Developer

Supported the development of a 485MW combined cycle natural gas power plant for an international investment bank and power plant developer. Provided natural gas supply analysis; including the review and selection of a lateral developer and gas supplier for the project for the development and construction of a 14-mile 12-inch natural gas lateral and meter station. In addition, AEE served as the project manager for the development of the power facility; including coordination with developer, investor, lateral developer and engineering firms. Led the submission to a State Grant Program for the project for a maximum award of $1 million dollars. Supported the weekly review and progress of the natural gas lateral.

International Equity Investor

Provided review and analysis of nearly two dozen long-term supply, transportation, hedging and lateral contracts with respect to compliance of ISO capacity performance mandates for the potential investment in a 750MW combined cycle natural gas power plant. Reviewed all supply options available to the project, including the potential of contracting directly with E&P producers for supply assurity.

Confidential Power Developer

The Power Developer purchased an coal fired power plant in PJM with the intention of converting it to natural gas. The developer engaged AEE to provide an indicative review of the considerations and obstacles for development of a natural gas lateral to serve a power plant once converted to natural gas. This review included an assessment of potential routes and associated risks, benefits and developmental considerations; inclusive of right of ways and utility justification. In addition, AEE provided insight into the potential capital expectations for both the development of the lateral and meter stations, and the associated demand charges the project could expect to pay over the term of the project. Lastly, AEE provided the developer a high-level understanding of Governing bodies and authorities required to be engaged for project approval as well as potential regional benefits for both the lateral and power plant once converted.

Liquefied Natural Gas Projects

Confidential US Based Marine Ferry Entity

Performed detailed economic analysis and strategy for full ferry fleet conversion over a multiyear period. Provided full ROI assessment, logistics and development plan for both the on-shore and on-vessel conversion. This included the coordination with the ferry engineers and managers to determine tasks to be completed for successful conversion, coordination with Marine regulatory authorities to develop a comprehensive road map for conversion, and identification required providers of equipment, fuel supply, transportation, and marine engineering firms. Developed detail economic model to determine real world pricing scenarios and risk tolerances for return profiles. Developed preliminary marine design and fuel delivery logistics for key internal decision makers to review viability of a conversion strategy. Prepared board materials which included economic and logistical analysis, conversion strategy, and preliminary execution road map over a three-year period; detailing all agencies to be engaged for compliance with regional, USCG and IMO standards.

Kinetrex Energy

AEE worked collaboratively with Kinetrex Energy to develop a market engagement strategy to further Kinetrex Energy’s footprint and market share for its LNG business. AEE supported the identification of new market sectors and industries for Kinetrex LNG in the Mid-Atlantic region. AEE supported Kinetrex in expanding its geographic footprint by introducing Kinetrex and its capabilities to new end users in regions not served by Kinetrex.
